It, like happiness, is nothing but a state of mind “unleashed” by our emotions, this is clear and obvious a bit for everyone. What few people know is that there is a strong connection between movement, nutrition and our moods. For the depression relief you will need the best deal there.
The first “trick” to keep in mind is:
- Physical activity
Whether jogging, brisk walking, dancing, swimming or biking, it doesn’t matter. The moment you move it is very difficult for you to feel depressed.
As soon as you start moving, you feel it immediately on your skin, the depression disappears.
Aerobics or yoga exercises are among the best for this purpose because they oxygenate and reactivate your body and, as we learned in the First Pillar. Breathing has so much to do with emotions.
- Proper nutrition
It is said that you are what you eat, so there is no doubt! Proper nutrition can affect our moods. Healthy and natural foods reactivate our body, improve our memory and fill us with vitality.
The refined, precooked and GMO foods leave us hungry and nervous.
Even the advice so recommended by doctors to eat so little is not very useful when our mood falters, because it loads our body with a sea of useless work and stresses it.
Eat only when you are hungry, eat only fresh, natural foods and lots of fruit and vegetables . They are foods designed by nature to reactivate your body and your soul. All that is refined and modified undermines your well-being as well as your mood.
- Identify the problem but do not dwell on it
Try to identify any situations that have helped make you depressed. When you have everything clear then, if the thing continues to press you too much it tries to free the tension confiding in a sympathetic friend or transcribing in a diary all your emotions.
Once done, however, avoid “sinking into your misfortune” and try to shift the focus to something positive, such as possible solutions to the problem that led you to feel so.
Einstein also said:
“You can’t solve a problem with the same way of thinking that created it”
Although it can be difficult you have to try hard and look at it from a different point of view. You must try to understand the lesson that this experience has taught you and use it to grow and improve yourself.
- Express yourself
Depression clouds our minds and makes us believe that the world is all on our shoulders.
Often, however, it is enough to exploit our imagination and engage in fun and creative activities such as play, dance, painting, writing and so on, to get better. Even the simple doodling on a sheet can reactivate your creative flow and release positive emotions.
- Avoid alcohol and / or addictive substances
When you are down it is easy to fall prey to these substances.
